Frequently Asked Questions

(Don’t see an answer? Email me: r.speziale[at]gmail.com)

Who’s Robin Speziale?
Robin is an author, and DIY investor who lives in Toronto (Canada). He’s been researching, and investing in stocks since age 18 (it all started in his dorm room at the University of Waterloo in 2005). Robin built a $300,000+ stock portfolio before 30, and has written three (3) books on investing; Capital Compounders (2018), Market Masters (2016), and Lessons From The Successful Investor (2010). He recently launched a service on Patreon (see below) for DIY Investors where he shares best ideas, audio interviews w/ top investors, micro-cap research reports, and lots more to help members hunt for that next 10x bagger stock, and grow their portfolio.

What’s Patreon?
Patreon is a platform where creators can share their ideas, content, etc. with members. Learn more about the package (see below) that Robin offers on Patreon.

Who can join?
Anyone can join on Patreon, and immediately access the DIY Investor Package!

What’s the experience level of members?
New investors, budding investors, experienced investors – everyone is welcome! The content is suitable for all experience-ranges.

What’s included?
– Future 60 MicroCaps, and Capital Compounders coverage
– Exclusive audio interviews w/ top investors
– Independent micro-cap research reports
– Private chat group w/ bots & level-up powers
– Toolkit for DIY investors
– Lots more… (see everything)

How often is content updated?
Content on Patreon is updated throughout the year, on a monthly basis.

What’s your focus?
Public growth companies that trade on the Canadian stock market (TSX, and TSX Venture). Company sizes range from ~$50M to $10B for the most part (micro / small / mid-cap stocks). There’s a greater focus on MicroCaps, because of their longer potential growth runways, high revenue CAGRs, illiquidity, and low analyst / institutional ownership. I’m always striving to find the next 10x bagger, getting in early to new companies. But I also don’t exclude any companies based on their size. Bigger companies can get bigger.

What’s your track record?
Since 2005, my stock portfolio has achieved ~15% compound annual returns. That means that my portfolio doubles every 5 years or so. I don’t aim for explosive growth, because that would open me up to way too much risk. I also only invest within my circle of competence, so that means no biotech, oil & gas, resource-based stocks. Here’s recent select performance* from some of the Future 60 MicroCaps that are covered in the package (as of July 2019): WELL Health Technologies (WELL.v) +290% | Martello Technologies (MTLO.v) +100% | Kraken Robotics (PNG.v) +90% | Evergreen Gaming (TNA.v) +90% | Redishred Capital (KUT.v) +74% | Good Natured Products (GDNP.v) +60% *Since list inception: July, 2018

Do you guarantee results?
No. Robin Speziale is not a registered advisor. The content in the package (Patreon.com/robinspeziale), does not contain any financial advice or stock recommendations. It is for informational purposes only. Please conduct your own research and consult a professional. Investing involves risk, including loss of principal.

Do you manage portfolios?
No. Robin Speziale is not a registered advisor.

What makes the package unique?
– Robin’s been researching & picking stocks since 2005 (with battle scars to show)
– Focus on growth companies (mostly micro / small / mid-cap stocks)
– MicroCap ideas that are under-followed; little analyst coverage / institutional ownership
– Pick n’ choose what works for you; Future 60 MicroCaps & 40 Capital Compounders
– No exposure to Resource-based (e.g. Oil & Gas) / cyclical companies
– Content is updated for members on a monthly basis (always fresh)
– No compensation from any companies (ever)

How is this different from 5i Research, Small Cap Discoveries, or MicroCap Club?
The Patreon package offers easy-to-read research reports, exclusive audio interviews with top investors, access to a private chat group (instead of a 90s-style forum), and lots more for only $5/month subscription (lower cost). Plus, you can cancel anytime (just like Netflix), instead of locking you into an annual plan (one time fee). Companies covered tend to overlap (micro / mid / small-caps), as the aim is to find undiscovered, and compelling small companies before others. But we also don’t restrict who can sign-up like some other similar sites. There’s no application process. Everyone is welcome!

How many members are there?
There’s currently 173 members (as of July 2019), which has grown from 0 in under two years! Members are DIY investors, mostly in Canada, who are building wealth through investing in the stock market. Members all get together in the private chat group, and share ideas (for informational purposes).

What’s the cost of membership?
It’s only $5 USD / month.

Why is the cost in USD?
Patreon doesn’t have a multi-currency option at this time.

Can I pay for annual membership (one-time fee)?
No, it’s a monthly subscription-based service (Netflix-style). I believe in this model because it puts members first and doesn’t lock them into an annual one-time fee plan, which is the old model (I’m striving to always add value on a monthly basis!)

How can I pay? Is it secure?
Patreon handles secure payment processing, and accepts either credit card or debit card.

When will I be billed?
When you first join, and then every month that you’re a member.

How can I become a member?
Visit Patreon.com/RobinSpeziale, and click on the button: “Become a Patron”.

What happens after I sign-up?
Robin will personally send you the package email, which includes quick links and instructions on how to access all of the content on Patreon. Sign-in to Patreon with your unique username and password to access everything.

Is a forum included in the package?
Forums are so 90s 😛 Instead, members have access to a private chat group on Discord, which has bots that send alerts (new 52-week highs, etc.), and members can gain XP, and level-up when they shares ideas / updates! It’s really cool 🙂

Do you get paid to write, or talk about stocks?
No. There’s no payment / fees received (ever) from companies, investor relations firms, brokers, or any other parties. All ideas are independent. I do this because it is my passion.

How do I cancel?
You can easily cancel your membership anytime. Here’s how.

Can I get a refund?
No refunds are offered, but you can easily cancel your membership anytime. Here’s how.

Is there a free trial version?
There’s no trial version of the package, but you can easily cancel your membership anytime. Here’s how.
